8 AM- BREAKFAST WITH A VIEW OF MEHRANGARH FORT
Staying in Jodhpur is a royal experience in itself. Numerous old Havelis, now converted into hotels, and homestays are mostly set inside the old part of the city which is circled around the imposing Mehrangarh Fort. Thus the visitors can have a look of the fort from their abode easily. The rooftop of all the houses serves as a cafe serving vegetarian food mostly. 9 AM- EXPLORE MEHRANGARH FORT
Founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, this fort is the most glorious one in Jodhpur as well as in Rajasthan. It is very well maintained and takes a minimum of 2 hrs to explore this massive structure. Do hire a guide to know all the historical anecdotes and architectural details of the fort. The walk to reach the entry gate of the fort is quite a steep hike. So be prepared with a pair of comfortable shoes and a headgear to tae shelter from the scorching mid-day Sun!
11 AM- VISIT JASWANT THADA
It is the traditional cremation place for the Royal family members. It is a fine specimen of intricately carved elegant marble monument. These marble stone sheets are extremely thin and polished. As a result, the outside surface of the monument emits a warm glow when the sunrays fall on its surface. For its architectural brilliance, it is commonly known as the Taj Mahal of Jodhpur! Jaswant Thada was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh. The cenotaph’s grounds feature carved gazebos, a tiered garden, and a small lake.

12.30 PM- UMAID BHAWAN PALACE
One of the largest private residences in the world now turned into a luxury hotel. A small portion of the palace opens to the visitors. It is one of the greatest specimens of Indo-Colonial architecture, built during the 1930s. The exclusive feature of this palace is that the manually chiseled sandstone blocks were put together in a special system of interlocking.
2 TO 4 PM- LUNCH + REST
Jodhpur, being the sun city of India, experiences a lot of heat and sunlight during the daytime throughout the year. Thus visiting any outside place in the afternoon sun is very discomforting and tiresome. It is best to have a lunch in any of the restaurants around the old quarter of the city. Indique restaurant in Pal Haveli, situated near the clock tower is a good option.
4 PM- RAO JODHA DESERT PARK
In an attempt to restore the city’s ecology and plants native to rocky environments, this park was built in 2006. Spread across 170 acres, this is the best place to explore the native flora-fauna. You can choose the trail you would like to take with some very helpful staff. It is one of the most refreshing and unique experiences in Jodhpur.Take any walking trail to explore this unique attraction in Jodhpur.
6 PM- STROLL IN THE BAZAAR AREA NEAR CLOCK TOWER
Stroll around the Clocktower area exploring local markets, shops, eateries etc. Glass bangles, various handicrafts native to this place and textile are worth to shop here!
8 PM- DINNER AT ‘ON THE ROCKS’
Have a relaxing and cozy dinner at ‘On the Rocks’, one of the most sort after restaurants in Jodhpur. It is situated near the circuit house and has multiple restaurants under the same hood. Both the ambiance and food are sure to lift your spirit!
There are many other locations in and around Jodhpur to explore and experience. The old Haveli style residential buildings, ancient temples of Osiyan, the old capital of Mandore, desert camp and camel safari attract a lot of travelers.
